ODG Announces New User Interface for Industry-Leading Treatment, Formulary, and RTW Guidelines
“ODG by MCG” features enhanced ease-of-use, sharing of evidence-based care plans, and an advanced new metric called the TAO Index.
Austin, April 2nd, 2018 – ODG, an MCG Health Company, and leading provider of evidence-based, data-driven claims strategies to the workers’ comp and disability markets, announced today the release of “ODG by MCG.” The updated web interface for leveraging the ODG evidence-based treatment and return to work guidelines is completely redesigned to make it easier for case managers, claims adjusters, and healthcare providers to tackle the industry’s most important challenges including timely return-to-work, medical management, reserving, risk assessment, and interventional triage.
ODG by MCG includes access to an advanced new ODG-developed metric called the TAO Index, or Treatment Analyzer on Outcomes, measuring the correlation of each medical intervention with timely return-to-work. Long known as the best measure of post-injury success in workers’ comp and disability cases, timely return-to-work is the #1 goal for all involved in the management of injury cases. ODG by MCG leverages its large database of claims to measure relative efficacy of treatment success, to facilitate fast-track, low touch, or no touch on those treatments associated with good outcomes.
TAO is utilized in concert with the traditional evidence-based ODG care guidelines, identifying treatments where manual review of provider requests can be avoided.
Since 1995, ODG has led the workers’ comp and disability industries in continually reviewing claims data and new or updated clinical research and scholarly articles, then applying such knowledge to its extensive evidence base. In the past, updated content and tools were simply loaded or built upon the existing web platform. This is a complete redesign, enhancing usability, and improving performance.
“The legacy ODG product is well-loved by our base who frequently tell us ‘don’t change a thing,’ so this redesign was a tall order,” said Phil LeFevre, Managing Director for ODG, “I think we hit this one out of the park, with a user experience that is faster and more intuitive. Our design team transformed the presentation of guidelines and data from diagnosis level down to the claim level. At the end of the day, we’re not managing diagnosis codes. We’re managing people.”
Other enhancements include bringing in vetted and fully integrated third-party solutions and content to the ODG by MCG platform. These include WiserTogether’s Return to Health solution which provides ODG-enabled patient-facing content for export to help injured workers better understand their condition and most effective treatment options, as well as striking 3D animations describing each topic from Visual Health Solutions.
“Return-to-health involves a collaboration,” said Dr. Stephen Norwood, MD, Editor-in-Chief of ODG. “Long before I teamed up with ODG, I was an orthopaedist caring for injured workers in a struggling Texas workers’ comp system. The 2007 Texas adoption of ODG was my first experience using any guidelines. As smoothly as it went, one thing I felt could be improved upon was better ability to export and share evidence-based care and return to work plans among stakeholders in order to achieve more buy-in, facilitate communication, and keep everyone rowing in the same direction, especially the patient and the physician, through shared decision-making.”
The Legacy ODG product will remain available to assist with transition planning. Existing users are directed to the FAQs document (http://www.worklossdata.com/user-faqs.html) and the ODG Helpdesk (ODGhelp@mcg.com) for other questions or to schedule a demonstration.
Also, a webinar that introduces the new ODG by MCG will be held several times. Register here:https://register.gotowebinar.com/rt/3822363502888137218.
